Installation of TSM/HSM Code on AIX v5.3
AIX v5.3 JFS2 and GPFS v2.3 and later offer HSM support via the Data Storage Management Application Programming Interface (DMAPI)interface. This is a native part of the filesystem code. DMAPI is an open standard defined 1997 by The Open Group. The goal of DMAPI is the Independence of data management applications from underlying file system types.
Step 1 After installation of AIX get the latest code from IBM
$> ftp service.boulder.ibm.com
Path: /storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/v5r3/AIXHSM/JFS2/v534/
File: TSM534C.tivoli.tsm.client.hsm.jfs2.tar.Z or newer
Path: /storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/v5r3/AIXHSM/GPFS/v534/
File: TSM534C.tivoli.tsm.client.hsm.gpfs.tar.Z or newer
Path: /storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/client/v5r3/AIX/v534/
File: TSM534C.tivoli.tsm.client.ba.tar.Z or newer
Step 2 Unpack and instal via installp & smitty
root> zcat *.tar.Z | tar -xvf -
root> inutoc .
root> smitty install

"adsmsmext:2:wait:/etc/rc.jfs2hsm > /dev/console 2>&1 # TSM SpaceMan"

Performing configuration tasks for the TSM Space Management Client.
"loading dsmrecalld"

Configuration tasks for the TSM Space Management Client completed.
Finished processing all filesets. (Total time: 31 secs).
Step 3: Define/Update Variables in /etc/rc.jfs2hsm to your needs
export DSM_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.opt
export DSM_DIR=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin
export DSM_LOG=/tmp
Step 4: Edit or Update config files
vi /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.sys
vi /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.opt
Step 5: Update dsmmigfstab file via TSM Commands
To checke the current definitions run
$ cat /etc/adsm/SpaceMan/config/dsmmigfstab
